Rat - After The Apocalypse By Blek Le Rat

The Godfather of European street art, Fench artist Blek le Rat has been cited amongst Banksy's most important influences. His highly politicised stencil work - usually in bold monochrome - is nothing short of iconic, revolving around the recurring motif of the rat: an important trope for Blek le Rat, the urban rodents "create fear [and] are synonymous with invasion." Just so in his latest release 'Rat - After the Apocalypse', which depicts a towering rat standing amid piles of debris, a self stick poised between its paws as it gazes into a phone camera. A fierce comment on contemporary society, 'Rat - After the Apocalypse' warns of the dystopian future that might lie around the corner of twenty-first century social media mania. Both visually and conceptually compelling, 'Rat - After the Apocalypse' is powerful to its core.
